Not going to make it to church today

Despite a facebook announcement from the pastor that church will go ahead as planned, we decided to lay low again today and not attempt to drive across the island to the service. Cayden would be thrilled (as would I) to see a few tanks…but I think we’ll pass on that.

A few have asked where we live, so this post should give you all an idea. We live in Amwaj, and it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get to Pearl Roundabout (now internationally known as “Pearl Square”). Despite the frequent helicopters going by, there is hardly a difference here on Amwaj Island.

We are fine, and taking it day by day. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

  1. Thanks for the map Josh… I actually had no idea that’s where Amwaj was and don’t think I’ve ever been out there even though my dad has an apartment on the island. Also was amused to see “Galali” on the map… this is where my friends and I used to go have sheesha’s, drink tea, and eat chapatis on the beach in high school. Spoke to my dad today and being at the university campus, he is also far removed from the commotion. The Modern Knowledge School didn’t close yesterday although my dad’s wife said few of her students actually showed up. We are watching the developments closely and keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.

  2. Natasha-
First of all, I’m excited to hear about your plans for the coming year. Three cheers for change! Look forward to watching your journey unfold.

Yes, the geography has definitely changed here in Bahrain, from what I understand. Five years ago, our house would have been in the middle of the ocean!
